SIMPLE PAST TENSE



The simple past tense, sometimes referred to as the verb tense, is used in time before now to discuss a completed action.



  • Something that once happened in the past
               The volcano in Iceland erupted last year after a silent period of 190 years.

  • Something that happened in the past many times
          We always enjoyed visiting our friends.

  • Something that was true for some time in the past.
                I lived abroad for five years.
